How long will therapy take?

  • How long an individual will be in therapy depends on what the individual wishes to work on. Although there isn’t a specific timeframe, short term therapy can look like 5-15 sessions, while long term therapy can look like 10+ sessions.

How often do I have to come in?

  • The frequency in sessions also depends on the individual. It is recommended to be seen once a week, however clients are welcome to spread out their sessions to every other week or even request to increase to multiple sessions per week.

What can I expect to achieve in therapy?

  • There are many benefits to engaging in therapy. According to research completed by American Psychological Association, psychotherapy produces long-term health improvements. Therapy can help reduce negative symptoms, gain better understanding and insight, increase self-awareness, heal from past and present traumas, identify long-term coping tools, make positive changes to problem behaviors, boost self-esteem, etc.

Does what we talk about in therapy remain confidential?

  • Confidentiality is extremely important when it comes to therapy and what the therapist does with the information provided by clients. All information provided is considered highly sensitive and can not be shared with anyone without the client’s permission. Serenity Therapy staff will require a written consent by client in the event they wish for therapist to consult or release information with any other member in their healthcare or professional team (i.e. Physician, Attorney, Therapist). The only exception to this is the legal mandate where a therapist can disclosure information without client’s consent, the times this may occur is when a client discloses they are a danger to themselves, danger to others, appear gravely disabled, or child abuse. All such disclosures will be discussed with you in advance.

Is online therapy and option and is it available?

  • Online therapy remains available and there is current availability for this option. Please inquire about this option as therapy online can be just as effective as therapy in-person.
